Che cos’è questo libro
Imagine leaving a dearly loved home to begin a new life beside the sea. In Anne's House of Dreams, the fifth Anne book, L. M. Montgomery gives readers Anne Shirley as a young bride. It comes out in 1917, in the last years of the First World War. Anne marries Gilbert Blythe, the boy she once refused to forgive, and the two settle in a small white house at Four Winds Harbour. It is a quieter and deeper book than those before it.

Anne leaves Avonlea to become a bride
The story opens in late summer at Green Gables. Anne is about to be married, and the house is full of bustle. Marilla is there, plain in her speech, and so is Mrs. Rachel Lynde, ready with advice. Diana Barry and Phil Gordon join the happy week.
Anne feels joy and a small ache. She gains a husband and a home, yet she gives up the room under the gable where she grew up. Gilbert waits at the heart of it all. Their love has grown from long friendship, and that is why it feels so sure.
The wedding takes place in the orchard she has loved for so long. Marilla says little, but her feeling shows in small acts. Anne looks back as she goes, knowing she can return. A new life begins, and it carries the old one inside it.
