About this book

What if doing right by your family means giving up the life you hoped to lead?

Marcia Schuyler is a young woman of modest means in an earlier America, raised in a household where family comes first. When duty asks her to set aside her own plans, she faces a choice that reaches beyond her own wishes. Her sacrifice leads her toward a life she never expects.

In this gentle romance, Grace Livingston Hill explores how affection can grow where none is expected. Marcia’s story moves through slow changes of heart rather than fast action. Prayer, conscience and trust shape the way characters understand their choices, while a quiet question remains: can a decision made for others leave room for happiness?
