The Upanishads, Part 1, no. 123, Part IV summary
Part 1, no. 123, Part IV of 170 · 1 min to read the part
In IV, knowledge of the Supreme brings immediate liberation, while failure to gain that knowledge before death leads to embodiment again in the created worlds. Repeated bodily lives provide varied experience until a person realizes the Supreme's nature and his own relation to Him.
What happens
- A person who does not know the Supreme before the body dissolves becomes embodied again.
- Knowledge of the Supreme brings liberation as soon as it is gained.
- Without this knowledge, the soul takes other bodies and repeatedly returns to birth and death.
- Varied experience continues until the person understands the Supreme and his relation to Him.
