A hungry boy leaves the forest
Ojo lives in a lonely round house in the Blue Forest with his uncle, Unc Nunkie, who is known as the Silent One. One day the cupboard holds only dry bread. Ojo reasons that no one starves in Oz, but you may have to go where the food is.
At dawn his uncle wakes him with one word, which is come. They climb the mountain path to the blue house of Dr. Pipt, the Crooked Magician, and his wife Margolotte. She feeds them a fine meal and calls the boy Ojo the Unlucky.
In the workshop the Magician stirs four kettles at once. They hold the Powder of Life, which brings anything to life when sprinkled on it. Margolotte says it is meant for something she has sewn herself.
That’s 1 of 9 key points.
