Résumé de La Dame et le Pirate
À qui s’adresse-t-il ?
Readers who love boyhood games, river chases and old-fashioned courtship told with a smile will feel at home here. It suits anyone who enjoys a talkative narrator, a faithful dog and a good-humored quarrel over love.
De quoi parle ce livre ?
Emerson Hough's comic romantic adventure The Lady and the Pirate begins by a Middle Western trout stream. The lawyer tells his own tale, with dry humor, a love of old philosophers and a stubborn faith in logic. From a Middle Western trout stream the story runs down the Mississippi to the Louisiana coast. It plays at being a pirate yarn while it quietly asks what a grown man owes to his own heart.

A grown man is captured by boy pirates
One evening the narrator sits by his trout stream, hunting a mosquito for his collection. A shaky voice cries out a challenge. In the alders sits a small boat flying a black flag, with two boys aboard, neither older than fourteen.
The red haired leader aims an enormous revolver at the man's waistcoat button. The fair haired Jimmy is a dreamer. The man, who has not smiled much in three years, feels his blood tingle. Here are youth and adventure, and he has missed both.
He swears a pirate oath on his hunting knife and leads the boys to his log house, which he calls the castle. One boy says only that it is great, and the man is more pleased than by any praise he has ever had.
