King Arthur
King Arthur is the legendary king of Britain who gathers the knights of the Round Table. His stories explore just rule, loyalty, and the collapse of a noble fellowship. In the most common version, betrayal within his own court brings his reign to a tragic end.

Was King Arthur a real person?
King Arthur is a legendary figure, and no historical person has been securely identified as him. Some traditions may preserve memories of an early British war leader, but the familiar king, castle, and knightly court belong to stories that developed over centuries.
Is Excalibur the sword in the stone?
They are separate swords in many familiar tellings, though the traditions differ. In Le Morte Darthur, Arthur first proves his kingship by drawing a sword from a stone and anvil. Later, after that sword breaks, the Lady of the Lake provides Excalibur.
