In Chapter 4, Arthur learns that Sir Ector is his foster father, promises Sir Kay a lasting office, and repeatedly draws the sword when others cannot. The barons resist accepting him as king and postpone their decision, while Merlin guides arrangements for trusted knights to stay around Arthur.
