De quoi parle ce livre ?
A king lights a signal fire for no reason, just to see a woman smile. That single joke starts the fall of a dynasty. Chronicles of the Eastern Zhou Kingdoms is a Chinese historical novel revised by Feng Menglong, a scholar and collector of popular tales, who died in 1646. It follows the decline of the old Zhou court and the struggles of states whose rulers seek greater power. A king's joke breaks the Zhou court
King You rules from the western capital. He is charmed by Bao Si, who rarely smiles, and he wants her smile more than he wants good advice.
Beacon fires on the hills can call the lords to rescue the king. He lights them for no reason. The lords rush in with their armies and find no enemy. Bao Si laughs as the armies hurry there and leave again, but the joke costs the king his lords' trust.
Then real enemies attack the capital. The king lights the beacons in earnest, but no one comes. The court falls, the Zhou house moves east as a weaker power, and the states that grow strong give the book its name. Trust, once spent, is not easily bought back.
That’s 1 of 9 key points.
