Aesop's Fables, Part 128 summary

Part 128 of 284 · 1 min to read the part

In The Lark and the Farmer, a mother lark stays calm when the farmer proposes asking neighbors to reap his crop, but calls for departure when he decides to hire workers. His decision to arrange the work himself makes the danger immediate and supports the lesson that self-help is most reliable.

What happens

  2. The Farmer inspects the crop and plans to ask his neighbors for help with reaping.
  3. A frightened young Lark asks about moving, but her mother says there is no need to hurry.
  4. A few days pass, and the Farmer finds overripe grain falling to the ground.
  5. When he decides to hire workers immediately, the Lark tells her young they must leave.
