De quoi parle ce livre ?
What would you do if a doll on a shop counter turned her head and answered your question? That is what happens to Molly, a little girl staying with her aunt in a shop full of toys. One evening, after the shutters go up, she finds the lady Marionette beside the Noah's Ark. How did you get there, Molly asks. I walked, of course, the doll replies.
Adventures in Toyland, by Edith King Hall, is a set of toy fables inside one small frame story. Each toy gets one chance to talk with a human, and the Marionette uses hers to tell Molly a tale each day. You get puns, jokes, and a mood that shifts from comic to cruel to tender.

A toy shop comes alive after closing time
Molly is staying in her aunt's toy shop with her young cousin. She spends every spare hour among the toys, cuddling them. Her favorite is a dancing pair of Marionettes. The lady wears a white silk dress patterned with pink roses, and the gentleman wears a blue velvet coat.
Molly once told her aunt that the two dance as if they like each other. Her aunt laughed and called her a fanciful child. Molly held to her view. This small exchange sets up a belief that runs through the book, that a child's imagination can see something true which grown-ups miss.
One evening Molly wanders in after the shutters are up and finds the dancing platform empty. The lady Marionette sits on the counter, and she explains the rules. Toys move and speak freely when Mortals are absent, and each toy gets one chance to speak with a Mortal for two or three weeks. Molly has only twelve days left, so she asks for a new story every day. The Marionette must first ask Father Christmas, and the next evening he agrees.
The book begins by trusting a child's belief that toys have secret lives.
That’s 1 of 8 key points.

Questions about Aventures au Pays des jouets : ce que la Marionnette raconta à Molly
What is Adventures in Toyland about?
It follows a girl named Molly who finds that a Marionette in her aunt's toy shop can talk. For several days the doll tells her stories about the other toys, each with a lesson about pride, love, or fairness.
Who is the Marionette in Adventures in Toyland?
She is the lady doll from a dancing pair, dressed in white silk with pink roses. She gains one short chance to speak with a human and, with Father Christmas's approval, uses it to tell Molly toy stories.
Why can the toys talk only to one Mortal?
The Marionette explains that every toy gets the power to speak with a Mortal only once in its life, for two or three weeks, and only to one person at a time. Toys move and speak freely when no Mortals are present.
Is Adventures in Toyland easy to read?
Yes, in the sense of being friendly. It has short tales, plain conversation, lively puns, and a clear frame of daily visits. Each story stands on its own, so you can read one a day.
What is the main message of the book?
The tales warn against pride, vanity, bullying, and greed, and they praise honesty, kindness, and plain speech from the heart. They also suggest that a child's imagination sees truths that grown-ups overlook.
