De qué trata este libro
What would you give to reach a land where no one ages and no one grieves? William Morris builds his tale around that question. The Story of the Glittering Plain follows Hallblithe of the Raven, a young man whose bride is stolen from the seashore months before their wedding.

Three riders ask and a bride vanishes
The story opens in Cleveland by the Sea, where Hallblithe of the House of the Raven sits in his yard smoothing an ash shaft for a spear. He is young, strong and promised to the Hostage, a woman of the House of the Rose. They are to marry on Midsummer Night.
Then three riders come through the gate. They ask only whether this is the Land of the Glittering Plain, where a man who has forgotten how to laugh may learn again. Hallblithe laughs and says folk here die when their time comes. The riders cry that it is not the Land and gallop off toward the mountain pass.
Hours later the maidens ride back from the shore with torn clothes and pale faces. Twelve armed men in black came running from a round ship and asked which girl was the Hostage. She stood up and swore it herself, to spare her friends, and went aboard without weeping.
He fits the spearhead to the new shaft, puts on his armor and mounts his black horse. Raven warriors search the sea for eight days and find only three fishing boats.
A happy life can be broken in one afternoon, and the true quest begins where ordinary strength runs out.
That’s 1 of 9 key points.
