De qué trata este libro
Meet the nicest girl in the school, and watch how little she needs to do to change everyone around her. Angela Brazil's school story follows Patty Hirst, the thirteen-year-old eldest daughter of a country doctor, through her first year at Morton Priory, a school built inside an old monastery. Patty is not the cleverest or the prettiest girl in her class. She has steady cheerful kindness, and a promise to her uncle to stand by her cousin Muriel, who wants nothing to do with her.

A family daughter leaves for school
The day before Patty leaves her home in Kirkstone, she sits beside a new trunk while her mother packs. Patty is thrilled and frightened at once. Her worry has a name. Her cousin Muriel Pearson already attends Morton Priory, and Patty fears Muriel does not want her there.
Mrs. Hirst begs Patty to stay friendly all the same. Uncle Sidney is paying the whole cost, which the family could never afford alone. His letter asks Patty to treat Muriel as her special charge. That promise weighs on her more than anything else.
Then younger children burst in, and you see the household Patty runs. She has seven brothers and sisters. She settles their quarrels, mends their toys, and kisses their bumps better.
That’s 1 of 9 key points.
