Para quién es

For readers drawn by faith, curiosity, or a love of English literature and history, who enjoy poetry, prophecy, stories of creation, and themes of covenant, justice and hope.

De qué trata este libro

What if one book held a whole library inside it? About forty-seven scholars built it on earlier English work, above all that of William Tyndale. Its aim was a Bible that could be read aloud in every parish church. Here is the shape of the whole collection.

Idea clave 1 de 9

The Bible is a library, not one book

The word Bible comes from a Greek phrase meaning the books. They differ in age, author, style and purpose.

The 1611 printing also carried the Apocrypha, which most modern copies leave out.

Each section asks to be read in its own way. A law code, a love poem and a letter to a church do not speak in the same voice. Knowing the arrangement lets you read each on its own terms.
