Who Juliet Capulet is

Juliet Capulet belongs to one of Verona's two wealthy families, whose old feud shapes the world around her. She is bright and brave, though her first response to marriage plans is quiet obedience.

What Juliet Capulet wants

After meeting Romeo at the Capulet feast, Juliet wants to love someone her family teaches her to hate. At her window that night, she wishes he were not a Montague, and they agree to arrange a marriage. She sends the Nurse to learn his plans, and Friar Laurence marries them in secret.

How Juliet Capulet changes

Juliet grows from a daughter who accepts her mother's limits into someone prepared to make her own choices. When her father sets a wedding date with Paris, she begs him to delay it. His anger and her mother's refusal to help leave her with less support at home.
