What is the difference between an epiphany and a climax?
An epiphany is a moment of understanding, while a climax is the point of greatest tension or decisive action in a plot. They can happen together, but an epiphany can also arrive quietly, without resolving the story's main conflict.
Does an epiphany always lead to change?
An epiphany changes a character's understanding, but it does not always change their behavior. A character may recognize a painful truth yet feel unable to act on it. The gap between knowing and acting can be an important part of the story.
