Cleopatra: resumen de Chapter 17

Chapter 17 de 34 · Book 2: The Fall of Harmachis · 13 min para leer el chapter

In Chapter 17, Cleopatra promises to use Egypt’s hidden treasure against Antony and to marry Harmachis, persuading him to reveal its location and guide her there. Disguised travelers reach the pyramid of Her, where Harmachis warns her about its curse before leading her through secret passages toward Menkau-ra’s burial place.

Qué sucede

  1. Cleopatra fears Antony’s demands because Egypt distrusts her and her empty treasury cannot pay for military defense.
  2. Harmachis reveals that ancient treasure exists, and Cleopatra swears to defend Egypt with it and marry him.
  3. They sail secretly with disguised servants, then approach the pyramids with one eunuch.
  4. At Her, Harmachis explains that only the ruler can judge whether Egypt’s need justifies taking the cursed treasure.
  5. Cleopatra agrees to enter, and a huge white bat emerges when Harmachis opens the hidden entrance.
