Qué sucede

1. Expecting Iras, Ben-Hur admires the palace, but its silence and locked doors make him suspect a trap arranged by Messala.
2. Two fighters enter; Ben-Hur recognizes Thord, who admits their murderous purpose and lets him fight the other man alone.
3. Ben-Hur kills his opponent with a technique Thord recognizes, then identifies himself as the son of Quintus Arrius.
4. Thord names Messala as his employer and accepts four thousand sestertii to disguise the corpse as Ben-Hur and report success.
5. Ben-Hur escapes, discusses a planned public inquiry with Simonides, kisses Esther, and finds a guide and Aldebaran awaiting him.
6. The corpse receives burial, a courier carries news of Ben-Hur’s death to Gratus, and Thord opens a wine shop.
