Anabasis: resumen de Part 1, no. 27, Part III
Part 1, no. 27, Part III de 56 · Book 1 · 9 min para leer el part
In III, the Hellenes face a difficult river crossing between hostile troops ahead and Carduchians behind, until two young men discover a shallow ford. Cheirisophus clears the opposite bank while Xenophon uses feints and a controlled retreat to bring the rearguard across, though some men suffer wounds.
Qué sucede
- The Hellenes rest beside the Centrites, but deep water and enemy forces block their first attempt to cross.
- With Carduchians threatening their rear, Xenophon reports an encouraging dream, and two young men reveal a shallow ford.
- The commanders divide the army, placing the baggage and noncombatants between Cheirisophus’s leading division and Xenophon’s rearguard.
- Cheirisophus crosses while Xenophon threatens another crossing, causing the enemy cavalry to flee and the infantry to abandon their heights.
- Xenophon faces the advancing Carduchians and arranges covering support from troops on the opposite bank.
- The rearguard charges, turns at the bugle signal, and crosses; scattered arrows wound some men, including members of the supporting detachment.

En qué fijarte
