These fragments point to a gospel used by the Nazarenes, Jewish followers of Jesus in Syria who keep the Law of Moses.

Close to the Gospel of Matthew, this text offers small but striking differences in familiar accounts. According to one fragment, the man with the withered hand is a mason who asks Jesus for healing so he need not beg for food. Other passages preserve variations of the Lord’s Prayer and accounts of Jesus’s trial and resurrection.

Inside this book

A builder’s plea – Meet the mason whose request for healing connects a familiar story with the need to work.

Familiar words, different details – Explore variations of the Lord’s Prayer and see how these fragments differ from familiar gospel accounts.

Jewish roots of faith – Encounter a community that follows Jesus while keeping Jewish law, customs, and traditions.

Jerome’s surviving quotations – Follow the brief passages Jerome preserves from a gospel he says the community itself holds.

A text in pieces – Discover what scattered quotations reveal, while recognizing that the complete gospel no longer survives.

Perfect for readers curious about Christianity’s Jewish roots and how ancient texts are pieced together, rather than a complete narrative.

Open the first page and explore the fragments that preserve this community’s gospel traditions.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/1027/9442/8764/files/32_87a4f023-0707-4290-9e05-280220209b38.jpg?v=1782111182
