About this book

A missing diamond, a hidden face, a dangerous charm: what does an older Holmes see that everyone else misses?

In The Case-Book of Sherlock Holmes, Arthur Conan Doyle gathers twelve separate mysteries with marriages, fortunes and family secrets at stake. In The Adventure of the Illustrious Client, Sir James Damery brings a request from someone who must remain unnamed. Meanwhile, the charming Baron Adelbert Gruner plans to marry a rich young woman.

Dr John Watson tells most of these cases with familiar warmth, but Holmes also speaks for himself. The Adventure of the Mazarin Stone turns on a stolen yellow diamond; The Adventure of the Three Garridebs offers a curious promise of wealth. In The Adventure of the Lion's Mane, Holmes is retired beside the Sussex sea.
