About this book

What happens when love asks you to break the rules that hold your world together?

In The Lady of the Camellias by Alexandre Dumas fils, Marguerite Gautier draws admiring eyes in Paris theaters and salons. She is a celebrated courtesan in poor health; Armand Duval is a young man of modest means who loves her sincerely. As they grow close, money, reputation, and his family's name press against their hopes.

Alongside it, The Corsican Brothers by Alexandre Dumas père follows Louis and Lucien de Franchi, twins raised on Corsica. Their lives take different courses, but a mysterious bond holds them together across distance. Here, family honor carries the weight of duty, and vendetta demands an answer to wrongs against kin. Both novels ask what loyalty costs when private feelings meet unforgiving rules.

What you’ll discover

  • Behind the admired face Meet Marguerite beyond her reputation, where public admiration offers no promise of safety.
  • Love under pressure Follow Armand and Marguerite as sincere affection meets the demands of money and family.
  • A bond beyond distance Enter the lives of Louis and Lucien, joined by a connection neither distance nor different paths can cut.
  • The weight of honor Explore a Corsican world where old quarrels make loyalty to family a powerful obligation.
  • Two worlds of feeling Discover how a father and son explore love, loyalty, and the price of living by a code.
