Worum es in diesem Buch geht
Tarzan at the Earth's Core is an adventure novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs, published in 1930. It is the thirteenth book in his Tarzan series. It is also a crossover. Burroughs had written a separate run of tales about Pellucidar, a hidden world inside the hollow Earth, and here he sends his best-known hero down to meet it.
If you know Tarzan only as the ape-man of the African jungle, this book moves him far from home. He leaves the forests he knows and travels toward the poles, into a land with no night, strange beasts and ruling reptiles. The story gives you a rescue mission, a long trek through danger and a hero who must rely on skill and nerve. Let us begin with the call for help that starts it all.

A call for help comes by radio
The story begins with a young American named Jason Gridley, who lives in Tarzana, California. He is keen on radio and on the idea that the Earth is hollow. Burroughs uses this hobby to open the door to a very odd place. Gridley believes that the old reports of an inner world called Pellucidar are true, and he sets out to prove it.
Pellucidar was already known to readers of Burroughs. It is a land inside the planet, lit by a small sun that hangs fixed in the sky. Because the sun never moves, there is no sunset and no way to measure the passing of time. Among its people is David Innes, an American who first reached the inner world by a drilling machine built by his friend, the inventor Abner Perry.
Gridley manages to pick up signals from this hidden land. Through them he learns that men he cares about are in trouble and need help. This is the spark for the whole book. A call across the rock of the Earth becomes a promise to answer it.
Burroughs does not spend long on science here. He wants to move quickly to the people and the danger. The radio is simply the thread that joins California, Africa and the underground world, and it gives the plot a clear purpose from the start. Someone must go and bring help. The question is who has the strength to survive such a place.
That question sends Gridley looking for the one man whose name stands for survival in the wild.
That’s 1 of 6 key points.
