Punkt 1 von 9
A dream mirror sets the whole story going
The book opens with a narrator who receives a bronze mirror from a white-haired Daoist. Gazing into it, he sees thirty-six flowering trees, each with a fairy beneath it, and hears a judge sentence the flowers to be born among mortals. He wakes and writes down what he saw as a tale of love.
The hero, Jin Yixiang, is born into a comfortable family in Changzhou County, near Suzhou. At sixteen he refuses an arranged marriage, saying he wants to find someone capable of true feeling first. His parents indulge him, and he delays his examinations for the sake of this search.
So the mirror is the frame for everything that follows. Yixiang's loves are shaped by fate, and the story keeps returning to that sense of destiny.
That’s 1 of 9 key points.
