MediumIt is universally acknowledged that a single man with a good fortune must be looking for a wife.
Es una verdad universalmente reconocida que un hombre soltero, dueño de una gran fortuna, debe de estar buscando esposa.
However little the feelings or views of such a man may be known when he first arrives in a neighborhood, this truth is so firmly fixed in the minds of the surrounding families that they consider him the rightful property of one daughter or another.
Por poco que se conozcan los sentimientos o las opiniones de ese hombre cuando llega por primera vez a un vecindario, las familias de los alrededores tienen tan firmemente arraigada esta verdad que lo consideran propiedad legítima de una u otra de sus hijas.
“My dear Mr. Bennet,” his wife said to him one day, “have you heard that Netherfield Park has finally been rented?”
—Mi querido señor Bennet —le dijo su esposa un día—, ¿se ha enterado de que por fin han alquilado Netherfield Park?

Our mission
The library burned once. We are building it back.
For centuries the Library of Alexandria held the wisdom of the known world. Then it was lost. We are building it back for everyone: every great book, complete, in every language and every format, for every family. And every reader helps: your plan pays for new languages, new audiobooks and books for readers in underserved communities. You don’t only read the library. You help rebuild it.
- Every language25 languages today, side by side, and more every year.
- Knowledge for everyone200 complete books free for good, with no sign-up. Every other book free to start.
- No wasteEvery printed book is made when it is ordered: no warehouses, no unsold stock, no pulped copies.
- Printed at costPaperback, hardcover and large print at the cost of printing. We add nothing.
Why there are no limits
We publish every book in the library ourselves, so no one takes a fee per book and nothing has to be rationed. Read and listen as much as you like, and print any book for what it costs to print.

Are these the author's original words?
No. They are complete editions in clear modern language, checked paragraph by paragraph against the original. Where an old text survives only in parts, its page says so.
Who is behind the library?
Library of Alexandria Press LLC, an independent US publisher of classics, scriptures and lost books, founded in November 2025 by Tim Zengerink. We are named after the ancient library; we are not that library, nor the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt. Read our story
Ein letzter Gedanke
We can't change what was lost in Alexandria.
Aber wir können ändern, was als Nächstes kommt.
Wir sind bereit, wenn Sie es sind.
